Jos-based writer, advert and public relations executive, Florence Oketona, will on November 29th, 2019 join the league of published writers when she presents to the public her debut novel, ‘Ashes in the Times’.
The presentation which will be taking place at the Eliel Center in Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State, is expected to draw book-lovers from all walks of life from within and outside the city.
The book, published by Transconventional Publishers, includes a foreword by Irene Agunloye, Professor of African Drama, Gender, Women and Film Studies, University of Jos.
In her praise for the book, Professor Agunloye said: “It is just unprecedented how Oketona carefully narrates the complex hurdles confronting the girl-child education in North-Eastern Nigeria. This landmark book thus draws our attention to the damaging effects of insurgency on girls generally and womanhood by extension.”
