The Nigerian Army has vowed to continue its operations in Okuama Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, until weapons and equipment allegedly taken by hoodlums are recovered.
Major General J.H. Abdulsallam, General Officer Commanding of the 6th Division made this declaration during a briefing in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.
“We will persist with our operations until the equipment and arms that were stolen are recovered,” he said.
He also recalled with sorrow the brutal killing of troops in Okuama Community in March 2024.

Accompanied by senior military officials, Maj. Gen. Abdulsallam emphasised that the operations will continue until the missing equipment and arms are retrieved.
He refuted claims that the Army had invaded the community, stating, “In Nigeria, there seems to be confusion about the term ‘invade.’ When the Nigerian Army conducts operations in an area, it is not an invasion; it is an operation. We do not understand why such operations are termed invasions.”
He further clarified, “Military operations are standard procedures in other regions and should be seen as such in Okuama. The Nigerian Army conducts these operations with clear objectives and descriptions.”
