Olam, one of the multinational organisations producing rice locally in Nigeria has been honoured with the National Productivity Order of Merit award (NPOM) for the year 2016.

Olam Rice Farm in Rukubi, Nasarawa State, sits on 14,000 hectares equipped with a 105,000 metric tonnes capacity rice mill.

The award ceremony, which took place at the Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja, was chaired by the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, along with Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of Employment Labour and Productivity.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Olam Group, Mr. Shaibu Mohammed, National Sales Manager in charge of rice, thanked the federal government for recognising the company’s effort in domestic rice production.

 

The NPOM for the year 2016 was in recognition of Olam’s effort in bridging the gap in Nigeria’ rice production in the year 2016. 

 

The award was organised by the National Productivity Centre and held annually as National Productivity Day to celebrate lofty achievements and innovations of individuals and organisations in the public and private sectors in the country.
