The Old Boys Association of Government Science Secondary School, Ikara (IKOBA) in Kaduna State has appealed to the state government to renovate the school stressing that almost 80 per cent of the school structures are dilapidated.

The president of the association, Aminu Adamu, who made the appeal in Kaduna urged for proactive measures in renovating the school saying the classrooms, assembly hall and staff quarters need renovation while the school also needs to be fenced.

While interacting with newsmen in Kaduna, Adamu also commended the state government for its security surveillance and also appreciated efforts made by the commissioners of education and that of internal security and home affairs in foiling the recent attempted banditry attack on the school.

He urged Governor Nasir El-Rufai to, as a matter of urgency, direct the ministry of education or other relevant agency to renovate the school to enable students to resume their education fully.

Speaking on the recent attempt to kidnap students of the school, the IKOBA president said the security agency’s intervention helped foiled what could have been an ugly incident.

“There was an attempt to kidnap students in March, but since the security agents were active they were able to foil the attempt. We commend the state government and the security agents for their swift response to foil the attempt,” he said.
