Students that graduated in 1996 from the Federal Government College (FGC) Malali, Kaduna State, have renovated the Volta Girls Hostel that was gutted by fire in March this year.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony of the hostel to the school, the project coordinator of ‘96 set, Cyprian Abudu said “When the hostel got burnt, we came here and saw that the living condition of the girls was so pathetic, so we decided to renovate the burnt hostel before resumption. Although it was one block that got burnt we however decided to extend the renovation to two blocks.”
He said the decision making process in public service was slow and if the College were to wait for government to renovate hostel, it will take a long time to do so.
“So, instead of allowing the students to continue to suffer in the process, we decided to come in and contribute our quota.”
