Tour promoter Remi Olukoya delivered a stellar performance over the weekend, clinching his 8th Club Championship title at Ikoyi Club 1938 with a five-stroke victory over a competitive field of past champions.

The CEO of Falcon Golf Development Company posted an opening round of 1-over 72, followed by a closing 5-over 76, securing the win over runner-up Peter Eben-Spiff and defending champion Tim Ayomike.

“I knew today would be tough and exciting. I appreciate my playing partners and the organizers for putting together a fantastic tournament,” Olukoya said after his victory.

Eben-Spiff, a former champion, recorded the best score of Day 2 with a 73, finishing two over par. Defending champion Ayomike, who opened with an 80-gross and closed with a 76, settled for third place.

Other top finishers included Talal Akar, Ikay Afe, and Tony Unuavworho. In the net category, Victor Akinbayo emerged victorious, with Dotun Isiaka and A. Hathiramani placing second and third, respectively.

Ikoyi Club Golf Captain Tade Adekunle praised the tournament’s success, emphasizing continuous improvement.

“What we try to do is to raise the bar, bring new innovations to make this tournament better”, he said, while congratulating the winners,” he said.

He also acknowledged the support of sponsors, including Guinness, Aramanda, and Turkish Airlines, whose contributions helped elevate the event’s standards.

Meanwhile, in a significant act of community service, the Rotary Club of Aso-Golf Abuja has provided financial support for ten indigent students at Model Secondary School Maitama, covering their 2025 WAEC and NECO examination fees.

During the donation event, Club President Rtn Liz Ulumaranma expressed the club’s dedication to education: “We believe that education is a right, not a privilege. Supporting these students is our way of investing in their future.”

This initiative underscores the club’s commitment to empowering youths through education and ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their academic aspirations.

The event also included remarks from PAG Chike Mbonu, the Zonal Coordinator, who highlighted the vital role of community engagement in educational initiatives. He stated, “It is our duty to uplift those in need. By supporting these students, we are not only aiding their academic growth but also shaping the future leaders of our society.”
