The leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu has offered N50 million as scholarships to orphans and less privileged children at various Nigerian schools in the last six months.
Chairman, planning committee of Olumba’s birthday celebrations, Dr. Etimbuk Brownson, made the remarks in Calabar, adding that the religious leader was committed to education and the wellbeing of indigent youths.
He said about 2,000 Nigerians have benefitted from over N50 million as bursary awards to study in Nigerian and foreign institutions by the Brotherhood leader.
Brownson said Olumba had established an orphanage with at least 100 children whose education and welfare he single handedly shoulders.
“As a result of his commitment to the welfare and education of orphans, he established Mother Elizabeth Redeemed Children Home and the Bromco Group of schools in Calabar where half of the pupils are on his scholarship,” he said.
