The first book, City of 201 Gods: Ile-Ife in Time, Space and the Imagination emanated from decades of in-depth research in Ilé-Ifè by the author. The Book, which was awarded Harvard University Walter Channing Cabot Fellowship Prize, is being presented in honour of His Royal Majesty, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, the Ooni of Ife, who celebrates his 32nd year on the throne of Oduduwa December 6, 2012.

The second book, titled “In My Father’s Parsonage: The Story of an Anglican Family in Yoruba-Speaking Nigeria”, was written in memory of Professor Olupona’s late parents, Venerable Michael Alatake Olupona and Mrs. Henrietta Olalonpe Olupona, to honour their mission work in Anglican Churches of South West Nigeria.

Proceeds from the book launch will be used to support the Michael and Henrietta Olupona Foundation, which will be devoted to a number of social development projects, including a world class Institute for the Study and Understanding of Culture, Religious Interaction and Peaceful Co-existence to be sited in Nigeria.
