Oluwo commends Nigeria’s Armed Forces for halting Benin coup

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrashid Adewale Akanbi, has said that the professional intervention of Nigeria’s Armed Forces under the Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa, halted the attempted coup in Benin Republic is commendable.

Oluwo, according to a statement on Monday by his press secretary, Alli Ibrahim, noted that it is rare to see army officers cooperating in upholding democratic tenets.

He stated; “Your timely intervention in restoration of democracy in the Republic of Benin is not only a mark of loyalty but also remark of merit and credit. Barely a few days after your appointment as the defence minister, you have raised the bar of Nigeria as a true giant and hope of the black race.

“I salute your courage. I congratulate you and wish you the best in the new assignment. God will continue to be your pilot to constructively place Nigeria as the greatest of the black race.”
