The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has urged the federal and state governments to checkmate high quest for money voodoo and ritual killings in the country.

Oluwo, in a statement by his press secretary, Alli Ibrahim, also asked traditional rulers to wage “an aggressive war” against the act.

The monarch said ritual killings had a “spiritual tune to the hardships pervading the land.”

He recommended capital punishment for ritual killings as well as formation of a special government agency to checkmate the act.

Oluwo said secret societies promoted by some traditional rulers and elders encouraged cultism among the youth.

“I’ve committed my throne to eradicate barbaric practices in Yorubaland most especially ritual killings. That’s one of the reasons I refused to belong to any secret society despite humongous inducements,” he said.
