Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Aliyu Bello, has confirmed the defection of the 2023 PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, David Ombugadu to the party.
Ombugadu had over the weekend resigned from the PDP.
Ombugadu was registered as APC member yesterday according to Mrs Joshua Ashelo Grace, the APC e-membership registration Nasarawa North Senatorial Administrative officer.
The party chairman who revealed this in an interview with journalists in Lafia said Ombugadu has registered with the ruling party at his Ika Wangibi electoral ward of Nasarawa Eggon LGA.
”He is with us, for us, it is a plus, on the party because the party need more people to join it. “He is a member of APC, he has fully registered in his ward.”
The APC chairman said Ombugadu’s coming to APC is an end to strong opposition leaving only occasionnal opposition in the state.
On the party’s stance on zoning, Bello explained that the governor believes in zoning governorship slot and it’s a “gentleman’s agreement” aimed at promoting peace and stability in the state.
He emphasized that the party will support the governor’s position on zoning, citing the precedent set by previous administrations adding that the party is prepared for the upcoming elections, despite the reduced campaign period.
