This award is France’s equivalent of the Grammys Awards in America and recognizes outstanding contributions to the regional and global music industry!
The public gets to vote the winner of this award.
The ceremony of the 2014 “Victoires de la Musique Classique” will be held on Monday, 3rd of February 2014 at the Grand Theatre in Aix en Provence, France, and will be broadcasted live at on the French TV station, France 3.
Following a concert recorded at Radio France, Paris on the 16th of December, a jury of music professionals (opera directors, artistic agents, journalists…) voted for one of the three nominees, which no one knows who their choice is. The vote of the jury accounts for 50 per cent of the results. The other 50 per cent depends on the public. From Monday,   January 6, 2014   2pm to Sunday   January 26 at 20pm, Paris time, the public will be required to vote.
Omo Bello is Nigeria’s only classical soprano singer on the international opera scene who started from her university days in UNILAG by singing at MUSON during her spare time. She is of Edo and Igbo parentage. After she graduated with a degree in Cell Biology and Genetics from Unilag she got a scholarship to France and now holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the prestigious Paris Conservatory of Music.
She sings in English, French, Italian, Russian and German and has won the 1st Prize in the Luciano Pavarotti Giovani competition in 2010, and a famous critic called her “a talent of Gold!” The shy, soft-spoken girl also won the 1st prize in the 2011 Anselmo Colzani international singing competition and was awarded with Italy’s prestigious international Arca d’Oro prize for young artists in 2013.
Omo Bello has been performing at the OPERABUJA festival in Nigeria since 2007. She also gives charity concerts for medical research associations, and even sings in old people’s Home
