Following on the success of her blockbuster movie, ‘Being Mrs. Eliot,’ Nigerian actress, producer and director, Omoni Oboli is set to premiere her latest flick, ‘The First Lady.’
‘The First Lady,’ a comic drama that revolves around the life of a street girl and her friends told with intrigues, twists and turns, features stars Alex Ekubo, Jospeh Benjamin, Yvonne Jegede, Chinedu Ikedieze, Anthony Monjaro and Omoni Oboli.
Bouyed by the success of her director debut, which roped in N5 million in the box office in its first three days, Oboli decided to push the envelope, writing and directing ‘The First Lady.’
“The response to the movie has been phenomenal. The movie has shown me that when we do things right, most times the market response will also be right,” she said, referring to the success of ‘Being Mrs. Eliot.’
Steve Shodiya, Nigeria’s celebrated movie editor, is optimistic about the flick, having been impressed by Oboli in her previous roles in films like ‘Render to Caesar,’ ‘Anchor Baby’ and ‘Figurine.’
“Nigerians should expect another thrilling, entertaining yet informative movie in ‘The First Lady’ and a different version of Omoni,” he said.
