Nollywood A-list act, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and US television Star, Camille Winbush of ‘7th Heaven’ and ‘Eraser,’ will host this year’s edition of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) holding today at the ‘City of the Legends,’ Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
The ceremony which is in its 11th year will host over 1500 creative professionals within and outside Africa.
Dr. Danny Jordaan, the Mayor of Port Elizabeth in a statement said he has personally endorsed the event and added that the government and people of South Africa and the City of the Legends in particular, are ready to receive all delegates from around the world.
Jordan who is a past recipient of the Daily Trust African of the Year awards said: “We are fully ready to host a great event and everyone coming for AMAA in Port Elizabeth this year can only look forward a to very great and exciting experience.”
AMAA awards will take place inside the Boadwalk International Convention Centre at the Nelson Mandela Bay according to Dayo Ogunyemi, Chief Executive Officer of the awards organization.
South African Platinum-selling singer, Miss Lira and Nigerian Kcee will headline the show as performing musical artistes and the duo will be joined by equally talented and popular Asanda Asa Mqiki.
According to the event organisers, they were chosen in order to raise the bar this year and offer the audience a combination of show hosts that will give them a great experience.
