He appointed them nonetheless, but after that, and discovering some that were not suitable, why still keep them?
Given that President Jonathan is presently weighed down by the campaign burden and therefore not expected to remember or carry everything in his brain, why was it that none of his advisers remembered to ask or arrange that he meets traumatised residents as he paid surprise visits to the ‘liberated’ towns and villages formerly in the hands of Boko Haram in the north-eastern states of Nigeria? President Jonathan would have leveraged on the interaction of some gathered parents of the abducted Chibok girls.
With a flying visit to Maiduguri for a brief interaction with those Nigerians, he would have won the hearts of many. Furthermore, at the Buhari’s Chatham House speech some young Nigerians were there to embarrass him. Having listened to responses by some of those young Nigerians interviewed on-camera, it was clear that they did not have any idea why they were recruited. It was a shame that it has turned factual the rumour heard that the Director of Publicity of the Goodluck Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organization, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, paid those young Nigerians to be there just to rally against General Buhari, the APC presidential candidate.
Most of those young Nigerian women and men recruited to carry and wearing anti-Buhari placards and T-shirts claimed that they were paid to be there to denounce return of a ‘tyrant’. Buhari supporters also had their own rally at the same venue. While this group had more matured people who said that they want to stop, among other things, the corruption going on in Nigeria, the pro-Jonathan group were made up of younger people who said they did not want the (attempted) kidnapper of Umaru Dikko in United Kingdom to be elected as President of Nigeria.
