At a recent function in Kano State, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, spoke on the government’s efforts at generating power and we salute the administration for that. But the regulatory body must devise means of checking/ regulating the activities of the Discos. It appears that some of them are not serious and their actions if not checked will portray the government as not doing enough to improve power supply across the country. Some areas are still in darkness despite the increase in power generation and transmission because the Discos are not doing enough in terms of distribution.
The regulatory body should give the Discos guidelines which they must follow. There is a need for proper monitoring of the activities of the distribution companies as well.
