On return of Dapchi girls

I was elated by news of the return of the abducted Dapchi girls. And I am sure that the joy of the victims’ parents knew no bounds. I commend President Muhammadu Buhari and all those who worked to ensure the release of the girls. I also urge that efforts should be intensified so that the remaining Chibok girls and all other kidnapped persons are rescued.

Furthermore, I call on the authourities to work harder and ensure that a permanent solution is found to the Boko Haram issue. Government cannot continue to pay for kidnapped girls to be released just as it cannot continue to release terrorists. The security agents should step up work in the crises ridden region so that the last of the Boko Haram insurgents are wiped out.  Meanwhile, all the girls rescued should be given proper medical attention. A psychologist should also be engaged to analyse the girls to ensure that no permanent damage has been done to them. Furthermore, security at all girls’ schools in the region should be beefed up.
