Why are lawmakers’ worried about which election comes first and which one is held last? What they should be concerned about, in my opinion, should be the overall success of the exercise. They should not use that issue to destabilise the polity. Politicians are expected to deliver on promises made to the people during campaigns, but in Nigeria, that is not the case. Once people are voted into power, they forget the masses and go about enriching themselves and after four years, when it is time for another election, they start looking for a cheap way of winning elections.

If our current crop of lawmakers had represented their constituents well, they will not bother about the sequence of election. Right now, all they are doing is to ensure that they secure their seats. They will not get a soft landing, no matter how they go about it. They should forget about changing the election sequence and go and woo their constituents, who will determine their fate in the next election.
