On the menace of kidnapping in Kogi State

For a state that has always clamoured for and welcomed foreign investors, the recent incident that occurred at Emeoro in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, where an American missionary was kidnapped, was an embarrassment, to say the least. Just one week after that incident, another Chinese worker was kidnapped at Zango Daji construction site. Some of the people attached to foreign workers were injured in the process.
However, efforts of security agencies in the state must be commended. Their prompt response, which resulted in the rescue of the victims within a period of time, is quite laudable.
 Kidnapping, which is new in the state, should draw the attention of the Kogi State government and make it proactive in dealing with sensitive issues.
We are calling on all relevant stakeholders in the state to join hands and stamp out this ugly trend. If a drastic action is not taken, would-be investors to the state will be discouraged, and that is not good for the state as its economic prospects will be tremendously affected.
