On the Saraki imbroglio

Once upon a time, Nigeria was ruled by various military dictators. Those years were trying time for everybody in this country. Nigerians started praying and fasting for democracy. At last God in his infinite mercy granted our prayers and Alhaji Shehu Shagari emerged as civilian president on October 1, 1979 – December 31, 1983.
Then the military came back again in 1983 and remained until May 29, 1999.
So in 1999 under Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria once again regained freedom from military gladiators till date. We all know how sweet democracy is, especially to a leading country in Africa and also the tremendous role
Nigeria is playing in the world of politics and business. For the above reasons, it is pertinent that Nigeria should protect the nascent democracy jealously. The Saraki controversy has been raging since last year without visible solution. Whatever the case, my take is that all the court cases and accusations should be put on hold for now.
These cases should be jettisoned till he finishes his tenure as Senate President. You will agree with me that, because of this ugly situation, nothing meaningful has been achieved in the Senate this past one year.
Let’s allow the man to concentrate on his work in order to move the country forward. Right now, Nigeria is faced with myriads of problems that are yet to be tackled effectively. The man Saraki is not in the right frame of mind to do his onerous job. After his tenure, the cases can be revisited.
