On the state of education in Katsina

The baseline survey on both primary and secondary schools across Katsina state conducted by the committee set up by Governor Aminu Bello Masari immediately he assumed duty shows the conditions of education as pathetic.
The entire sector is characterized by dearth of teachers, infrastructures and instructional materials. The recent SSCE results attested the fact that Katsina state is lagging behind other states as it clinched the third least performing state in the federation.
Though the present Masari led administration came with zeal to revitalize the sector, its efforts are hindered by the current global economic recession.
Despite the challenges, especially payment of salaries, the government has carried a lot of repairs and reconstructions of many dilapidated schools.
But, the reality on ground the resources at government disposal would never solve the problems militating against the education in the state.
It is in view of this, support from political office holders, well to do individuals organizations become enormous to complement the government efforts toward salvaging the sector.
The recent construction and commissioning of a secondary school by an individual at his village Kadandani in Rimi local government is a challenge to wealthy individuals in the state.
