Many discerning minds were shocked when the former governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda went to the National Assembly and lodged a complaint that he was denied holding a rally in Bauchi last year.
The whole trouble stated on November 2016, which was the month Yuguda’s handful of supporters fixed for his ‘home’ coming to Bauchi supposedly for condolences and the usual exchange of pleasantries as tradition entails according to the sponsored radio jingles. But the real motive of the visit was hidden till the D-day to threaten the peace of the state under the guise of home visit.
What was the basis of extending invitation to people through the electronic media to welcome a common citizen remains hidden. This was the question observers put across to organizers of the botched attempt to disrupt the peace of the state.
As the hatchet plan was timely nipped in the bud by security agencies, rabble rousers and jobbers alleged that Yuguda was humiliated by those charged with maintaining peace and tranquility in the state.
And instead of going to the courts to seek redress, (in the event they have any justifiable reason), Yuguda and his co-travelers went to the National Assembly to “lodge complaint.” Why the National Assembly over issues bothering state matters in faraway Bauchi?
He was quick to extend hands of friendship to detractors of the people to join forces to destabilize the APC administration in the state for merely protecting the interest of the people against unwarranted acts of disruption.
Every one watching the unfolding events in Bauchi knows that the National Assembly members from the state are bent on insulting the intelligence of Nigerians and seem unrepentant. The narrative evolved as a theatre of allegations and recriminations demanding full throated defence from Bauchi State government. Indeed, the change mantra has ushered in along with its laudable objectives a season for insolvent political jobbers, name droppers, rabble rousers and their co-travelers close to the corridors of powers, whose major trade is to knock heads, create enmity and generate unnecessary tension for them to prosper.
This group of political hawks have always lived and survived under crisis situation which they tactfully create and fan regardless of the damage to our collective psyche and regardless of the fact that Bauchi State has paid dearly for such mischief in terms of its unpalatable consequences.
Few weeks ago, they started to fire their reckless salvos again at the direction of the state governor Muhammed Abubakar and the ruling party as they are known for mischief with the intent to intimidate their target for political gains. The new strategy is the sudden marriage between Yuguda and those detractors claiming APC membership and masquerading as representatives of the people in the National Assembly.
But what has the National Assembly got to do with a claimed humiliation of a common citizen who had wanted to disrupt the peace of a state if not for mischief making against a constituted authority? When has the floor of the National Assembly become a court room to try claimed cases of humiliation? The game plan against the security of Bauchi State by drowning politicians is now exposed. The National Assembly squad has defied all entreaties for possible reconciliation in tandem with the change mantra.
They have forgotten that the Bauchi State Government they want to ridicule has grown above threats, twisting of facts, extortions and falsehood. The administration has closed any chapter of falling prey to the antics of jobbers and busy bodies no matter the gravity of mischief.
First, the federal lawmakers from Bauchi have made it a duty to standing truth on its head in their diabolical desire to stain the trust and confidence existing between the state governor and sane-minded observers. They wish to make their new godfather relevant and create a leeway to corner and manipulate ways to the heart of the gullible and the elites.
They resolved, to carry their mischief to the highest pedestal of assuming a recognized statue while forgetting they have eroded their credibility for trust. As the state patiently waits for the report of the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee ‘investigating’ the fake humiliation of Yuguda while in Bauchi, mischief makers, particularly those in the National Assembly are already jittery of their past misdeeds and may sooner than later end in jail as the high-powered committee that investigated the Yuguda’s eight-year stewardship has submitted its report. Some were awarded contracts that were not executed but paid while others diverted public funds to private vaults as others were paid for merely being miscreants in their localities and now rode on the wind of change to the National Assembly.
