The Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, has called on police authorities to provide more logistics, including manpower, for its officers and men in his chiefdom.

Yunusa stated this during a security meeting at his palace which had chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, secretary of the council, Alhaji Kamal Adamu Shuaibu, representatives of police, State Security Service, NDLEA, Civil Defense Corps and religious bodies in attendance.

He said lack of manpower had been the major challenge facing the police force across the country in combating the rampant cases of crime and social vices among the youth in the area.

He said Abaji was surrounded by three neighbouring states of Kogi, Nasarawa and Niger,  giving rise to communal crises at the border areas.

He also called on the council authorities to liaise with security agents to tame cases of cable theft and vandalism of transformers and other government utilities in the area.

The traditional ruler further urged the Abaji command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to liaise with the council authorities and embark on orientation of youths on dangers of drug abuse.

Also speaking, the chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, assured that the council would not relent in its effort to ensure jobs were provided for the youth in the area.
