The Ona of Abaji and Chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, has commended a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the FCT, Abubakar Sadiq Ahmed, for empowering women and the less privileged in Abuja South.

Alhaji Yunusa, represented by his Chief of Staff, who is also the district head of Sabon-Tasha, gave the commendation during the second phase of a women’s empowerment program at the South-East ward of the council on Tuesday.

He said the chiefdom was impressed with the philanthropic gesture of the APC chieftain for identifying with the less privileged and downtrodden, noting that such gestures would help to reduce hardship in the community.

The monarch, therefore, called on the beneficiaries to ensure they use the financial support given to them to engage in small-scale trading to provide for their families.

Earlier, the APC chieftain, Abubakar Sadiq Ahmed, said he decided to support underprivileged women with N30,000 each so they could engage in petty trading of their choice to cushion the effects of hardship.
