Mimiko stated that for effective performance from the police force, government at all levels must be ready to assist police with modern gadgets to help them in curbing criminal tendencies.
He said: “peace all over the world is paramount to progress, hence the need to provide assistance to the Nigeria police force to make sure that they rise up to the challenges of combating crime. The vehicles are being given to the police for effective and efficient performance. It should be judiciously used for the sole aim of fighting hardened criminals who are using the state as their base.”
The Governor also commended the state police command for its efforts in the state at reducing activities of criminals, adding that his administration was ready to provide adequate assistance to the police.
In his response, Iroham thanked Governor Mimiko for his kind gesture and promised to make sure the vehicles were judiciously used for crime control.
Iroham said the vehicles will be deployed to some flash points identified by the command. “We want to express our gratitude to his Excellency for graciously donating 10 patrol vans to the command. We assure the people of the state that the command will make maximum use of the vans for patrol in areas like Isua and Arigidi,” he said.
