Wife of the Ondo State Governor, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has empowered some women and youths in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state. 

Mrs. Akeredolu who led other members of the Forum for Wives Of State Officials (FOWOSO) to the empowerment event, said the goal of FOWOSO was to continue to encourage women to be relevant in government and to be in a position to contribute their own quota to the development of the state.

She said it was the third empowerment outreach of FOWOSO in the state, starting from Isua and then to Oka in Akoko to ensure that women, through the acquisition of skills, could contribute meaningfully and economically to the development of the state.

She stressed the need for women to have steady income, saying if a woman had a steady source of income, her family would definitely do well as there woould not be a reason for selection of who should go to school and who should not.

“If we want our women to be productive, we have to assist. There are those who have access and there are those who don’t because some women have been incapacitated. The world has moved on and as such, none should be left behind,” she said.

Chairperson of Odigbo Local Government, Bunmi Adenikinju, lauded the gesture as she charged the beneficiaries to see the empowerment as an opportunity to better their lives and lift up others.

Among the empowerment kits distributed were sewing machines, hair dryers, grinding machines, wheelchairs and cash to the women.
