Ondo NURTW crisis deepens

The Adejayan-led faction of the NURTW also told newsmen in Akure that it was ready to reclaim its mandate from the Obayoriade-led faction.

The ousted Deputy Chairman of the union, Alhaji Aliyu Adebayo and the Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Amuda Bello, also said that they did not hold any meeting with officials of the Ondo State Government.

Adebayo said, “We have never met with any of the commissioners or any government official. We stand by our mandate! Our tenure will end on August 20, 2011 and we are not ready to allow any usurper to steal our mandate.

“The National President of the NURTW, Alhaji Gidado Haman, told members of the Ondo State House of Assembly in the presence of Obayoriade, alias ‘Die-the-Matter’, that he was no longer recognized as a member of the union because he was suspended long before he forcefully used hoodlums to sack us from office. We cannot surrender oy mandate to them Adebayo maintained.

He said that the faction would not take law into its hands as it was waiting for the House of Assembly to find a permanent solution to the crisis rocking the union.

It would be recalled that Obayoriade’s faction last Monday protested against the alleged interference of Minister of Labour and Productivity, Prince Tokunbo Kayode (SAN) in the union’s affairs with a view to impose ousted Adejayan’s group back in office.
