Police is yet to identify a man who hanged himself on the premises of a government primary school in Ondo city,  headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Daily Trust learnt that the lifeless body of the man, said to probably be in his middle age, was discovered around 10.30 am by a security man in charge of the school on Sunday morning.

The body hung on a rope tied up in the tree on the school grounds, located on Ayeyemi street in the community.

The cause of his death remains a mystery, but a source close to the scene continues to generate controversy by insisting the deceased may have been from somewhere outside the community.

A police source close to Enuowa police station in Ondo city, said no suicide note was found under the tree where the victim hanged himself.

The security man and other people in the area have been invited for questioning.

When our reporter visited the scene of the incident, large numbers of the residents of the area were seen in group discussing the sad  development .

The deceased who wore blue jersey and jeans was yet to be brought down.  

Also a pair of sandals said to belong to the victim was noticed under the tree and a mobile phone kept ringing in his pocket.

Similarly, policemen from Enuowa divisional police station led by a senior police officer in the division in company of the landlords association in the street where the ugly incident occurred were also noticed making arrangement on how to remove the body of the deceased.

Speaking on the matter, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Enuowa division, Mr. Xpress Omoigui, a Chief Superintendent of Police CSP, confirmed the receipt of the incident and added that information concerning it has been forwarded  to appropriate quarters at the police command headquarters in Akure, the capital of Ondo State

Also contacted the spokesman for the Ondo state command Femi Joseph told Daily Trust they were unable to identify the corpse because the community wouldn’t not allow access to it.

According to him, the police were told to stay because they have to perform some traditional rites to prevent such occurrence before the copse could be brought down.
