The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, Oluwatoyin Babalola, has denied being a card-carrying member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or any other political party.

This came after some youths stormed the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akure, demanding his removal as Ondo REC.

The youths carrying placards bearing different inscriptions had also accused the REC of ‘fraternising’ with members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the poll.

They insisted that Mrs Babalola must be redeployed from the state to allow a free and fair election in the state.

But speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, Babalola said she is not a card-carrying member of any political party in the state but a senior electoral officer.

“It is not true, I didn’t hold any clandestine meeting with the governor (Aiyedatiwa) or any member of any political party,” she said.
