Alademehin while fielding questions from newsmen in Akure during a grand finale of War against Erosion Campaign in 18 local councils said government would tackle the gully erosion which has become a threat to the social economic development of Irele and other towns in the state.
The commissioner who collected a shovel and scooped out some garbage from the culvert along Irowo Street, Akure appealed to the residents to stop throwing waste inside the gutter along the major roads, stressing that it was going to be a total war against erosion in the state.
He enjoined all the council chairmen to ensure that waste bins were made available at public places for people to dump refuse.
The Caretaker Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Temitayo Oluwatuyi who also cleared some refuse from the gutter with shovel said the essence of the campaign was to control erosion with a view to making Akure wear a new look.
