The state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, disclosed this at Ikare-Akoko during the flag-off ceremony of the N50 million women empowerment loan under the state government’s Special Market-Women Empowerment Loan Scheme (SMILES), for the northern senatorial district of the state.

Mimiko, who regretted the deplorable condition of the road in spite of the huge financial commitment by the last administration in to it, noted that the advertisement and designing processes of the road would be completed before the end of the rainy season.

According to him, “we cannot allow our people to suffer unnecessarily; all necessary processes, both the advertisement, the design will be completed before the rainy season stops. We are going to award the road to a competent contractor. The road leading to Ikare must not be like.”

The governor, who vowed to fulfill his campaign promises to the people, however, urged the 600 beneficiaries of the loan to make judicious use of it, adding that their ability to pay back would enable government to inject more funds into the scheme.

He assured them that his administration would do everything possible to assist the traders to boost their businesses, especially the market women, who he described as the backbone of their families and instruments for the state and national development.

While thanking the partner bank, Skye Bank for the support, the governor assured it that the loan would be paid back in time to further strengthen their relationship.

Dr Mimiko, who enjoined traditional rulers in the area to unite all their subjects for the purpose of developing their area, promised to complete soon the Alpha D3 Company in Ikare-Akoko in order to improve the state’s economy. Earlier in her speech, the chairperson of the state committee on micro-credit, Mrs Adenike Ademujimi, disclosed that a sum of N15 million would be distributed and each of the beneficiaries would receive a minimum of N25,000.
