The FCT Police command has arrested a member of four-man robbery gang that killed one of their victims in Abuja.

Narrating how the victim was killed, the command’s spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said the one-chance robbery gang took the victim as a passenger and as they tried to rob him, there was a struggle in the course of which one of them shot and killed him.

“In the course of investigation on September 4, we arrested one of them, Emmanuel Nwori, a taxi operative in connection with the gruesome murder of one Umo Monday who boarded the taxi as a passenger.

“They took away his phone and dumped the remains at Federal Housing flyover, Kubwa. Investigation is on-going,” he said.

While fielding questions from journalists, the suspect said he was arrested when the phone of the victim was tracked to one of his friends who then led the police to him.

“I am the driver of the group. We just carry our victims like normal passenger and after robbing them we drop them off along the road. I don’t know how they got the gun we use in the operation, I am just a driver although I am aware of the group’s operation,” he said.

Also, police said three armed robbery suspects were arrested after they robbed their victim of her phones at gunpoint in Kugbo area of the capital city.

“On 22nd August, 2018 following a tip-off, police operatives arrested three armed robbery suspects namely; Aliyu Ahmed, 20; Bala Mohammed, 25 and Abdulraham Mohammed, 19, who specialized in using firearms and dangerous weapons to rob residential houses.

The suspects attacked and robbed the victim of her three phones at her residence located at Kugbo.

“The following exhibits were recovered from them; one double barrel, one Dane gun, two live cartridges, two cutlasses, four knives, six wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, one bottle of codeine syrup, three touch lights, one iron cutter, one axe and some charms. The suspects will be arraigned in court after investigation,” police said.
