One person was confirmed dead yesterday in a multiple accident which occurred on Friday morning at the popular Otedola Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The accident involved a tanker loaded with 45,000 litres of premium motor spirit (pms) and four vehicles.
A video had earlier trended online showing some people scooping fuel from the fallen tanker.
According to the state Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), upon arrival of the Agency’s team at the incident scene, it was observed that the multiple accident involved a tanker with unknown registration number.
Our correspondent reports that a joint team of Lagos State Fire Service, Agency fire team, Nigeria Police worked to manage the flames and the resultant traffic backlogs using chemical foam.
The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, in a chat with Daily Trust Saturday, said the other affected cars were recovered by the agency’s light duty equipment.
