Fresh facts on the violence that erupted at Okota area of Lagos revealed that one locally made cut to size pistol and 10 motorcycles were allegedly recovered from hoodlums involved in the burning of ballot boxes in the area
The cut to size gun was said to have been recovered from two hoodlums at Stadium bus stop area of Surulere.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Muazu Zubairu who confirmed the recovery said that 23 suspects were also arrested for various electoral offences in thd State.
Earlier, it was reported that 22 persons were arrested in various skirmishes in Lagos metropolis.
Zubairu while addressing journalists at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, after meeting with Area Comanders and their respective Divisional Police Officers said that nine persons were arrested at Shomolu, nine at Okota, two at Surulere and three others at Alaka.
He said that aside the pockets of skirmishes in those areas the electoral process was peaceful.
“We got information that some people were trying to distrupt the voting process at Ijora but our men quickly moved in to quell the situation. At Epe, Ikorodu, Oshodi, Mushin and Ikeja, it was peaceful” he added.
However, some people alleged that about two persons died in the fracas at Okota. The residents decried the absence of security personnel in Okota.
