Angry residents in Kafanchan and it’s environs had on Monday morning taken over the major road from Ernmaco Filling Station to Kaduna electricity business Unit in Kafanchan to protest over electricity Tariff hike and epileptic power supply.

The residents who are mainly Youths invaded the Kafanchan electricity business unit carrying placards with inscription; “Stop charging us high, we need constant light, stop the blackout”.

Our correspondent, who was at the scene reported that a Student of Senior Government Secondary School Takau in Kafanchan  who was identified as Noah Ransom was shot at the back.

Ransom was taken to Sir Patrick Ibrahim Memorial hospital for medical attention.

Some of the angry protesters who spoke with Journalists said the hike in electricity tariff and epileptic power supply informed their decision to stage the peaceful protest.

They further explained that residents of Kafanchan enjoyed constant power supply during the former Manager but wondered why power supply became epileptic and the tariff increased immediately he was transferred.

The Youths also demanded the removal of the present manager and review the arbitrary increase in electricity Tariff in the area.

Meanwhile, as of the time of filing this report, security agents are still battling to disperse the angry Youths who are demanding justice for the victim.

When contacted by our reporter, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna Command, ASP Mohammed Jalige said, he has no security details of the incident but promised to get back to Daily Trust with the details.
