The Kaduna State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Edward Marshal, has said only the PDP, working in alliance with other opposition forces, has the structure to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Marshal stated this in Kaduna on Wednesday while receiving members of a political group under the aegis of Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim (GOH).
Daily Trust reports that opposition leaders are strategising to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
The PDP chairman stressed that no other political platform has the nationwide reach and grassroots presence compared to that of the PDP. He argued that when the time comes, opposition elements will inevitably rally under PDP’s leadership to secure victory.
“No party has more structure across the country than the PDP. Take it or leave it. At the material time, they will all come under the leadership of PDP if our interest is to help our people and help ourselves to change this government,” he said.
Marshal pointed to the prevailing hardship in the country as a major reason Nigerians would reject the APC at the polls. “An average Nigerian today would not like to hear the APC name anywhere, “he said.
“The condition of living is terrible, our children are dropping out of school, and many can hardly feed twice a day. In reality, the economy is bad and no Nigerian will vote APC. They know it,” he added.
He disclosed that the PDP’s forthcoming national convention scheduled for November would reposition the party and attract more members, including defectors from the ruling APC. According to him, the convention would send a strong signal that the PDP is ready to reclaim power.
