Dina who was the gubernatorial candidate for the AC during the 2007 election in the state, was assassinated by yet to be identified persons on January 25, 2010 at Otta, while his remains was expected to be interred in his country-home in Ijebu-Ode yesterday.

Osoba who was speaking at the interdenominational farewell service for the late Dina at AC state secretariat, Abiola way, Abeokuta, asserted that only the votes of the people of Ogun state could allow for a purposeful and meaningful remembrance of the late governorship candidate. “When we take over government in 2011, we would immortalise the name of Dipo Dina. We shall do everything to keep his name alive and his good works would not be forgotten. It is only your votes that can make this possible,” Osoba said.

The former governor explained that the AC leadership at both national and state levels is prepared and determined to unmask killers of Dipo Dina and therefore put  N2.5 milliom for anybody or group that has useful information about his killers.

“We did not know that they have been on Dipo Dina’s trail. I want to call on all AC members to reject and revenge the killing of Dipo Dina through their votes in 2011.We should do all humanly possible to reject PDP. They are killers and God will expose them.”

The Ogun State chairman of the party, Alhaji Tajudeen Olaotan Bello, in a tribute, claimed that, the party governorship candidate in 2007, was assassinated and not killed by armed robbers as claimed by the police. He stated that “AC members were pained that Ogun State Police command hastily concluded that armed robbers killed Dipo Dina on the day of the incident even before any investigation.”

He said the preliminary information at the party’s disposal, in particular the published statement of Funmi, a supposed prophetess who travelleed to Ota with Dipo on the fateful day, raised a number of questions for the police to work on.

“The circumstances of the killing bear all the ingredients of a premeditated and organized murder. It is an open secret that the deceased, in the last five years, has engaged Ogun State’s Otunba Gbenga Daniel administration in a running battle over probity and transparency in government. This crusade in December 2006, caused him to be detained along with three of his colleagues including Alhaji Sola Lawal, Kehinde Bamigboye and Saheed Durosaro.

“It was barely three months ago that an Abeokuta high court freed the deceased while the other three persons are still standing trial for alleged theft of Ogun State government vouchers.” Alhaji Bello stressed.”
