Your father is the first civilian governor of Benue State, Aper Aku and he left behind legacies that are currently sustaining the state. During his era, industries for the production of fertilizer in the state were established, while others were built to process the agricultural products of the famers and that encouraged many to go into farming.

He launched commercial enterprises such as the Benue Brewery, Benue Bottling Company, Lobi Bank, Ber-Agbum Fish Farm, Ikogen Cattle Ranch, Taraku Vegetable Processing Industry, Benue International Hotel in Makurdi and many more.

Also, your father, the late Aper Aku, initiated the Makurdi International Market, built a Secretariat for the State of the Art, He established two Teachers Colleges at Oju and Makurdi, he set up the University of Technology in Makurdi, known now as Benue State University, he increased the number of Secondary Schools in the state and so on. Aku’s legacies are enormous.

After your father, Reverend Father Moses Adasu was elected as another civilian governor in the state and he did very well too. Sir, the legacies of your father and those of the late Adasu, are the only things sustaining the state. May his soul and that of the late Father Adasu continue to rest in peace.

It is very unfortunate that those who have been ruling the state after the death of your father and reverend Adasu, are very selfish and their legacies are what we can see now: Owing 16 months’ salaries of  workers in the state, killing of their political rivals, embezzling the public funds meant for the execution of projects in the state, using workers’ salaries to expand their personal businesses, blaming one another for their failures, giving protection only to themselves and their families. The list of their anti-democracy legacies is endless.

I am aware of the several attempts you made, trying to get into a leadership position to enable you take after your father but it has been difficult for you because you don’t buy votes as others do, it has been difficult for you because you don’t want to sell your conscience, it has been difficult for you because you are not a type that can kill his political rivals, it has been difficult for you because you don’t want to tell lies, it has been difficult for you because you have refused to be jumping from one political party to another like others and you are not desperate. Your types are rare and I urge you to keep it up.
