In the last session of a series of interviews that Dr. Gumi has been granting, he mainly dwelled on the so-called Islamic terrorist organizations such as Alqaedah, Al-Shabab, ISIS, Boko Haram, etc. That Muslim terrorists are the ones killing themselves and non-Muslims all over the world is not a view held by only Dr. Gumi, rather it is what most people worldwide believe because of how much the mainstream media is hell-bent on deliberately blaming all atrocities on all Muslims.
In addition to being influenced by the media, Dr. Gumi strongly believes the propaganda because our prophet (SAW) prophesied that some Muslim youths would be violent in later time of Islam. While responding to the rudeness of a youth to him, the prophet (SAW) says: “Verily, there would be a people in the lineage of this (the youth), they would be reciting the Qur’an but it would not be beyond their throats. They would leave Islam at the rate the arrow leaves its curve. They would kill Muslims and leave pagans. Verily, had it been I would see them, I would have killed them as Aad were killed.” (Hadith 4766; Sunanu Abidauda).
While every Muslim should believe such a prophesy, when the violence however seems to have occurred, we should make sure it is worth being blamed on the Muslim youths because a verse in the Qur’an metaphorically says People of the Book would fight us in “fortified townships” or “from behind walls”. In other words, having been convinced that practicing Muslims cannot be defeated if confronted face-to-face, they resort to either using the black sheep amongst us to destroy the religion from within or perpetrating atrocities and deceptively using their powerful media to blame it on Islam. Allah (SWT) says: “They fight not against you even together, except in fortified townships, or from behind walls…”Q (59:14).
So our approach to studying Qur’anic verses and prophetic traditions should be holistic, comprehensive and balanced. I mean anytime we hear of bomb being detonated or an attack carried out, we should be cautious enough to independently investigate for us to know the real perpetrators because many such attacks were carried out which were always blamed on the so-called Muslim terrorists by the mainstream media, only for the real perpetrators to later be exposed by investigative journalism. And the irony is it is mostly Christians that carry out the investigation and exonerate Muslims.
For example, a few months ago a Christian journalist wrote an article in which he said all the trucks and weapons used by ISIS are made in America. The question is how can these products get to the hands of these people without the consent of America? Do you believe that America sells its products to people She doesn’t know? Is it not possible for America to know where the nations to whom it sells its products, apply them? Or is it part of the plot to weaken and break up Middle East Muslim countries into smaller ones so that only Israel remains strong in the region?
Rather than be apologetic and on the defensive, what we Muslims should do is to clamour for thorough independent investigation into how we were, at will, massively massacred by both Nigerian Army and the so-called BH, particularly when an Igbo was Chief of Army Staff. If found guilty, they deserve being imprisoned for life because of only-God-knows number of Muslim lives that were lost under their stewardship, just because they wanted to retain power. The fear you nurse that corrupt forces will fight back by, at best, destabilizing the government, or at worst, dethroning it as they did during Buhari’s first coming, they will not succeed because Allah (SWT) will accept our prayer as he did during last elections.
It pains me most when I hear us only saying it is the black sheep amongst us that are terrorists. Why don’t we add by propagating that there are also terrorists among the Christians? Don’t you know about the Lord’s Resistance Army of Uganda? They are worse than the so-called BH. If you watch Dr. Zakir Naik’s ‘Terrorism, Not Monopoly of the Muslims’, you will believe Muslims are not terrorists at all when compared with other people of the world especially the West. The mainstream media is determined to only call Islam a dog in order to hang it.
That is why channels like Manara TV, Wisal Hausa and any other English Islamic Channel should concern themselves with investigative journalism, the kind that digs deep, brings out, and airs the truth that is deliberately forsaken by the mainstream media which is only concerned with the official versions of all stories, ranging from 9/11 to the last attack in Germany. If you want to know about the excessive influence of the Jews over the mainstream media, you can read ‘The Truth About the Jews’, a book written by Sheikh Rifa’ee.
In conclusion, Allah (SWT) says: “They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allah’s Light with their mouths, but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the disbelievers hate it# It is He Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all religions even though the disbelievers hate it.”Q(9:32-33). Today, despite the propaganda, Christianity is dying in the West while Islam, being the fastest-growing religion in the world, is gaining ground. Already, what America is after is Godless Society which is the name of another book I recommend you read. You don’t hear Obama calling “God”; he only pompously says “we and our allies”. May Allah (SWT) make us worthy of automatic ticket in his Paradise. Ameen!
