Sir, this time around I am compel by necessity to write to you for the second time, the moment when the nation is facing serious economic challenges with dwindling oil price which causes so much havoc in our economy, though we have confidence in the government at the center because of its honesty, trust with the commitment to the diversification of the economy, an alternative to the absolute dependency on oil revenue.
Most informed people know there is something wrong with being dependent on government and making no contribution to the society in which they live, here your administration should make policies of micro-credit well known to its citizenry to encourage entrepreneurship development which will reduced over dependency on government. The government should through ministry of information create an orientation desk office which will be saddle with the responsibility of enlightening the public on how to access loans from Microfinance banks and other financial institutions. This will immensely help the government policies and programmes at the grass root.
In economic diversification and wealth creation, it is in record that Abubakar Habu Hashidu’s administration put in place Manto processing Company in Kumo, to process tomatoes paste. This project helped our local farmers to harvest tomatoes in Kumo and environs, and also encourage tomatoes cultivation. Without it now, our farmers have resorted to local preservation which is harmful to our health due to poor storage. It is therefore recommended that the government through Gombe State Investment and Property Development revisit this project and develop other SMEs (small and medium enterprise) which will help in job and wealth creation among the people of the state. Our society will make progress and be successful if policy makers support, encourage and promote entrepreneurial activities.
