The initial jubilation of victory that engulfed us during your election has gradually dissipated and given way to a more sobering reality, and as the clouds of reality gather over our beloved Zamfara State.
I offer my heartfelt prayers for Zamfara State to experience the rain that will bring about its growth, progress and success. Just as a nourishing rainfall awakens a sleeping beauty, I hope that our beloved state will rise from its slumber and embrace its full potential that has been dormant for a while.
Zamfara, as one of the infant states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, was established on 1st October 1996. Blessed with vast arable lands, it holds great promise. However, it remains among the poorest states in various aspects, such as education, youth employment, women empowerment and infrastructure.
It is my belief, Dr. Dauda Lawal, that with the help and guidance of Allah the Almighty, your leadership will transform Zamfara State into a bastion of prosperity, unifying its potential and opportunities for the betterment of our people; also leading the state towards greatness.
Your journey to this esteemed position has exhibited a strong personality and a resolute career, and I believe the same spirit will be aptly channelled into the governance of our state. Inspired by my grandfather, the venerable Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, who ruled with diligence, justice, and equity during his reign, I urge you to emulate his noble example as a gentleman leader.
Remember, you are now bestowed with a divine responsibility. This leadership has been given to you as an act of God, a true service to humanity. You have triumphed over countless hurdles and challenges, and your emergence at this moment can be likened to that of a windbreaker rescuing the state from the clutches of difficult times.
The people of our state are currently beset by unprecedented uncertainties, leaving many internally displaced without a sense of security and struggling to make ends meet. I call upon you to stand as their representative, the voice of the voiceless, and to fulfill your duty with proper administrative action, empathy and commitment.
In addition, I plea for your attention to be directed towards the pressing issues of mining, ginning, farming, education, and health welfare among others. These areas are vital to the transformation and upliftment of our state.
Remember, that leadership is an inherent characteristic of the Almighty, bestowed upon those chosen at the appointed time. Dr. Dauda Lawal, you have been chosen by God to be at the forefront of representing our state. I implore you to wield your authority with benevolence and strength of character that this divine call demands.
With the absolute help of Allah, may your tenure be marked by remarkable progress and genuine prosperity for Zamfara state.
Yours faithfully,
Zainab Salisu Matori, CEO Matori Empowerment and Educational Support Foundation
