If President Goodluck Jonathan emerges PDP’s candidate and eventually wins the presidential election next year and naturally aspires for a second term, he may have to slug it out at the 2014/2015 primaries with aspirants from other sections of the country. This is because the conformity to party rules or lack of it, will still rear up its ugly head. Conversely, if Alhaji Atiku Abubakar emerges winner at the end of the primaries and goes on to win the presidential election, he will be expected to complete the “northern term” and should not aspire for a second term. If he is able to do that and no northerner in PDP aspires for the presidency after Atiku’s first term, then the zoning arrangement would have come full circle.
