Open letter to President Buhari

We,  the Arewa Media Writers Association  write this to notify you Mr President  about the worrisome situation our people in the North miserably find themselves in.

We believe that you and your government  are trying your best. Our intervention should not be seen as an attempt to malign you or our beloved country.

The association, which is a conglomeration of diverse voices in the media organisations based in Northern Nigeria, has been at the forefront of promoting unity, peace and progress of the north and by extension Nigeria at large. Also, the association has been very proactive in its quest to eliminate indiscipline, hate speech and fake news, especially on issues hinging on the flight of the northern Nigeria.

Mr. President, you  are already conversant with the burning issue facing us but just wish to highlight their implications to our societal and socio-economic development.

Nigeria is a country facing myriads of criminal activities such as banditry, kidnapping, gunmen and many more. Banditry is everywhere in northern Nigeria. The perpetrators are killing innocent people day and night, and collecting money as ransom. These require a quick response from your government.

We believe you have all it takes to bring an end to these issues, but unfortunately, we are not seeing any meaningful results.

Mr. President, we wish to suggest that your government should increase  the number of security personnel in all the security agencies. More emphasis should be given to community policing to bring security to the nooks and crannies of the country.

Our youth also need to be reoriented and educated and given employment.

Lastly, we need urgent action against those evils forces. We want peace and justice that can unequivocally lead to better standard living of our people.

The Arewa Media Writers will continue to give its contribution for the peace and development of our dear country, Nigeria.
