The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) yesterday said it has the capacity to enlist over one million students.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe, made the remarks during the appointment of President of Brekete Radio, Ahmed Musa, as NOUN Goodwill Ambassador in Abuja.
He said the university can offer admissions to over a million candidates who could not get spaces in the conventional universities.
 “Each year, about 1.5 million candidates seek admissions into various universities but only about 500,000 are given admission. We can take the remaining one million students who are now roaming the streets,” he said.
He said the university had established study centers across the country and that all her programmes were approved by the National Universities Commission as well as runs similar course contents with the conventional universities.
In his remarks, Musa promised to work together with NOUN officials to protect its mission and promote its values. He enrolled at the university for Post-graduate Program in Law.
