The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has received the Organizational Leadership Award for Excellence in Open Education in recognition of its pragmatic initiatives that broaden access to learning.
The Director, Media and Public Relations Ibrahim Sheme said the award was in recognition of the university’s “dedication to openness, access, high quality and innovation.”
The award, presented at the Open Education Global Conference in Krakow, Poland, was received on behalf of the institution by the Head, National Open University of Nigeria’s Open Educational Resource (NOUN-OER), Dr. Jane-Frances Agbu.
The Executive Director, Open Education Consortium, Mary Lou Forward, said the award is presented to an organisation that has shown exceptional leadership and ground-breaking activities in the field of open education, adding that the award is not presented annually, rather it is awarded by the consortium’s board of directors by special commendation to recognize truly exceptional work.
