Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), a joint security task force maintaining peace in Plateau, Bauchi, and Kaduna states, has seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition over the past year.

The operation announced that it recovered 220 arms, 1,874 rounds of ammunition, and 83 cartridges from 2024 to the present.

These weapons were officially handed over yesterday to the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) at the OPSH headquarters in Jos.

Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the commander of OPSH and General Officer Commanding the 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army, stated that the recovery is part of the federal government’s commitment to stopping “the senseless bloodletting and insecurity occasioned by the proliferation of Small Arms & Light Weapons (SALW) in circulation within our communities.”

He added that OPSH has achieved great success in curbing criminal attacks through both military and non-military efforts.

General Oyinlola urged the public to support the security forces in their efforts to create an illicit-arms-free society.

In response, Mr. Abdul Adamu, a Deputy Director-General at the NCCSALW, commended OPSH on behalf of the Director-General for its significant achievements against criminals and its efforts to address the proliferation of illegal arms.
