Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, Gyogon Grimah has said that security operatives are on the trail of the suspects who kidnapped Calabar-bound passengers on New Year’s Eve.
He said the police, Department of State Security, DSS, and other sister security agencies are working together and tracking the whereabouts of the suspects.
The CP also noted that they are very positive about the success of the operations and appealed for cooperation from the locals for success as soon as possible.
Local boys in Nde 3 Corners community in the Ikom LGA in central Cross River State have reportedly traced the forest where the suspected kidnappers hid the passengers they abducted on New Year’s Eve.

In the last three weeks, Nde 3 Corners Akparabong Junction has become notorious for the kidnap of people. Four victims have reportedly been killed while a baby and two others were hit by stray bullets at the infamous spot.
Last month, the chapter chairman of APC in Ikom LGA, Hon. Mathew Egomo and his first son, Dickson were kidnapped in November 2023. They were released after the ransom was paid.
According to a resident of the area who gave his name as Ndoma Abeng in an interview, the local boys who were irked over the latest kidnap, mobilized themselves and were able to confront them.
He said they discovered their hideout, adding that this was different from where they kept their victims.
According to Abeng, “The local boys could sight some amounts of money, probably ransoms they must have been collecting from victims.
