The Edo State government says the police have arrested a member of a fake recruitment agency that has defrauded over 500 job seekers in the state of millions of naira for nonexistent jobs.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, said the suspect, Benjamin Amachi Chukura, is a graduate of Public Administration, from Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Ekpoma.

He said the suspect claimed that his organization, KAI Consulting, wrote a letter to Edo State government in November 2017 seeking recognition and partnership with the state on environmental issues.

The firm was alleged to have received 113 applications from applicants who paid N5,000 for uniforms; N2,000 for handouts; N1,000 for Identity Cards; N500 for examination fees; and another N2,000 for rank.

When contacted, the State Police Commissioner, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, confirmed the arrest of Chukura over the alleged fake recruitment.” Yes, the man is with us, he is undergoing interrogation,” he said.
