Operation Safe Haven, the Special Task Force maintaining law and order in Plateau State and environs in the early hours of Monday morning killed three members of two-armed robbery gang around Riyom and Jos north local government areas of Plateau State.

Daily Trust gathered that two of the armed robbers were killed around Anguwan Boka forest along Hawan Kibo in Riyom while the third robber was killed around Babale in Jos north.

Hawan Kibo, an area with steep hills along the Jos- Abuja highway surrounded by forests has been a dead trap for motorists and armed robbers often use the sloppy area to their advantage.

However, the Media and Information Officer of Operation Safe Haven, Major Adam Umar told Daily Trust that troops from the taskforce had received a distress call of an armed robbery attack in Babale around 1am and on arrival had engaged the criminals in a shoot-out. 

Major Umar said one if the robbers was killed instantly while others escaped with gunshot wounds and a mobile hand set was recovered.
