The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected member of an organ-harvesting syndicate and rescued three victims who were allegedly lured with promises of N2 million each for their kidneys.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday in Lafia.
He said the suspect, identified as Maro Ebojoh, a 49-year-old man from Delta State, was arrested on November 17, 2025, at the Alhaji Yahaya Sabo Motor Park in Lafia.
Preliminary investigations, according to the CP, revealed that Ebojoh had been sourcing potential organ donors and preparing them for illegal kidney transplants.
He had reportedly taken the victims to a hospital for medical evaluation, and one of them had already been moved to Abuja for the procedure before the police intervened.
Mohammed said operatives immediately moved to Abuja and rescued the victim, who was being kept in a hotel while his blood pressure was being stabilised ahead of the planned surgery.
The command further said the suspect confessed to the crime and revealed that he had received an advance payment of N500,000 from a client, with an agreed total of N6.5m.
He also confessed to having successfully procured a kidney donor for another client two months earlier, receiving N1m, while the donor was paid N2.5m.
The CP said investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the organ-harvesting ring.
